Finally, WinZip for Android available on Google Play

WinZip for Android

The best zip utility finally gets released for Android devices on Google Play. WinZip is now available on Google Play for free…nada!

With the Android version of WinZip you can view supported file formats directly within the WinZip app, allowing you to easily open other popular formats with 3rd-party app integration. The app supports encrypted Zip files (including AES128 and AES256) to protect sensitive material safely, all while on the go. You can also copy unzipped content to the clipboard to paste into an email or another application. More, you can save the last extracted zip file to access at a later time.

The app requires Android 2.1 or higher and is available for free as a 1.1 MB download from Google Play.

So far, the app has scored an average rating of 4.2 out of a possible 5, with 123 votes cast so far. Here are a few in-app screenshots of the app.

Dropbox Android Beta: auto upload photos and get free space

Dropbox Android BetaVisit this page on the Dropbox forums to get started with Dropbox Android Beta. With this app you can upload photos and videos automatically to Dropbox. You will also receive 5 GB of free space on Dropbox.

The app is pretty simple to use and is limited to one choice: allow Dropbox to upload photos and videos via Wi-Fi only, or upload over Wi-Fi and your data plan.

The app has removed the previously enforced 180 MB upload limit, so beware when using your data plan and taking videos. The video (or pictures) you take will automatically be uploaded to Dropbox, which could eat your data plan with one video.

Visit the Dropbox forums to download the APK (or scan the QR code) to get started.
