Google Play released an updated version of the Google+ for Android app today. The update today contained quite a few nice features and improvements to the app.
The first noticeable update to the app, is major changes to the look and feel of the UI. The interface has been completely reworked, and photos and videos are quite prominent in the the Google+ timeline now. Pictures shared by people in posts or chats, can now quite easily be downloaded.
To name just a few new improvements:
With a feature called Instant Upload, videos and photos are automatically uploaded to your own private album on Google+, making sharing very simple.
Messenger has been updated to make contact suggestions when adding a post or starting a chat.
Mobile Hangouts now has a dedicated button on the main interface and allows you to video chat with up to 9 friends while you’re on the go.

The app is available as a free download from Google Play. The download size varies by device. On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 the download was a reasonable 10.1 MB.
Having updated the iOS version of the app first on 9 May 2012, a lot of Android users felt left out in the cold. But now finally Android users rejoice, we are on equal footing again.
Google recently signed a deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) which enables Google to add another 600 movie titles to Google Play and YouTube. This will add MGM to a list of a 5 big movie houses that are already offering movies for rent through Google. The studios already renting through Google are: Paramount, Universal, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. and The Walt Disney Co.
MGM titles available yesterday already on Google Play were Rocky, Robocop, Moonstruck, Hoosiers and Hot Tub Time Machine.
Renting a movie starts out at $ 1-99, and is unfortunately only available to US and Canadian residents for now.
